Job description
Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Community, Participation and Volunteering Manager for the Bristol Property Group. The new role sits within an Ending Unequal Access prioritised property group and will work as part of the Property Leadership Team. The role will lead the development of the Community, Participation and Volunteering offer across the property group and reach outwards into local communities including Bristol and North Somerset to broaden community participation and engagement. The role is full time and will require regular weekend and bank holiday working, with rotational property group duty management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes leading community engagement and participatory practice, applying it across a range of contexts, innovating volunteering and increasing participation, thinking strategically, demonstrating analytical skills, using data and insight to prioritise and decide how to engage audiences, building partnership working, coaching people to increase confidence/capability, and driving community engagement and participation.

Key Requirements
  • Excellent understanding of good practice in community engagement and participatory practice, and experience of applying it in a range of contexts.
  • Excellent understanding of volunteer engagement and experience of innovating volunteering and increasing wider participation.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills.
  • Able to use data and insight to prioritise, make effective choices and decide when and how to engage different audiences.
  • Significant experience of partnership working.
  • Ability to build effective and collaborative working relationships with leaders and wider teams, and to coach people to increase their confidence/capability and increase community engagement and participation, including volunteering.

  • Willingness to engage beyond the property portfolio, including active involvement in the local community, partnerships, and outreach initiatives.
