Job description
Overview

A Senior Clinical Fellow is sought to work as part of the specialist Upper GI Surgery team at Imperial College NHS Trust starting in October 2025. The successful candidate will be a senior registrar equivalent with significant experience in Upper GI Surgery looking to further develop their knowledge and skills in this area. The candidate must have achieved, or be working towards their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent.

Working as part of the regional cancer centre for North West London at Hammersmith Hospital, West London, the post-holder will work with senior consultant colleagues to deliver excellent care for our patients. The Upper GI surgical service moved to the Hammersmith (HH) site in March 2019. It is the regional upper GI cancer unit for north-west London and parts of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and offers a range of routine and highly specialised surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Support and aid the clinical ward work, the Outpatient workload and Elective and Emergency operating of the Department (Registrar level).
  • Participate in the on-call rota with a pay banding supplement at middle grade level.
  • Contribute to the General Surgery on-call at St Mary's Hospital.
  • Work within the Upper GI service, including outpatient clinics, Theatres, ward rounds and MDTs, with involvement in referral triaging and patient management.
  • Engage with the regional cancer centre and the gastrointestinal physician unit as part of a multi-professional team for diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Follow the outlined timetable: UGI Ward Round, UGI Theatres, UGI Clinic, and related activities as per rota (AM/PM structure) with regular committee and operational meetings.
