Senior Clinical Fellow in Rhinology - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Senior Clinical Fellow in Rhinology - Starting in October 2026

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior clinical fellowship in advanced rhinology, lacrimal and plastics surgery at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. This is a 12 month fellowship programme designed to develop the skills to a level to deliver independent practice as a Rhinology Consultant.

The primary objective of the fellowship is to provide advanced clinical training in the management of diseases of the nose, paranasal sinuses and associated orbital disease. Additional experience in facial plastics and reconstruction can be offered.

Main duties of the job

The specific learning objectives of the fellowship are:

Knowledge: To develop full competency in the clinical assessment and management of benign and malignant rhinologic conditions.

Practical: To be able to independently undertake minimally invasive endoscopic approaches to the paranasal sinuses and orbit including primary and revision endoscopic sinus surgery, advanced frontal sinus surgery including Draf 3/Modified Endoscopic Lothrop, endoscopic approaches to treat orbital and lacrimal disease including dacryocystorhinostomy and orbital decompression, and endoscopic treatment of benign and malignant nasal tumours. Opportunities for training in facial plastics will be offered including septorhinoplasty and the surgical treatment of naso-facial skin cancer including reconstruction.

Research: Dedicated research time will be offered to complete at least one publication and presentation of work at international meetings will be supported.

Rhinology fellowship training is provided by the subspeciality rhinology team and led by Professor Neil Tan. The fellow will hold a senior position in the department including supporting the supervision of registrar and junior doctors. The post is expected to include at least 2 days of operating and 1.5 days of outpatient activity. At least 2 half-days per week will be allocated to CPD, audit and research.
