Overview
The Royal Free Hospital Intensive Care Department is looking for a motivated Senior Clinical Fellow. This post would be ideal for a candidate wishing to gain experience in Intensive care medicine and the recognition and management of the critically ill patient. You will be well supported by our dedicated team of ICU Consultants.
The RFH ICU treats over 2800 patients a year. A large team of consultants provides 24-hour cover by working in blocks to ensure continuity of care.
Responsibilities
- Work as a Senior Clinical Fellow in the Intensive Care Department, contributing to patient care and teaching.
- Support training and education, including the dedicated teaching programme with ICU teaching, ICU Radiology teaching and ICU Journal Club.
- Provide opportunities for trainees (ICM, anaesthetic or medical residents) to gain experience; assist with education and supervision as appropriate.
- Engage in medical education activities and contribute to the department’s educational priorities.
- Work within a large consultant-led team that delivers 24-hour cover in blocks for continuity of care.
Candidate profile
- At least two years of accredited core medical or anaesthetic training to the level of CT2 or equivalent.
- Must have passed MRCP or Primary FRCA.
- Demonstrated interest in medical education and a minimum of 3 months experience in intensive care medicine is essential.
- Open to ICM, anaesthetic or medical residents seeking time out of programme; post-CCT trainees seeking to develop ICU experience; or trainees considering an out-of-programme experience (agreement with the relevant Specialty Training Committee and Deanery required).
Education, qualifications and professional requirements
- MBBS or equivalent qualification; GMC Registration; completion of MRCP, Primary FRCA or equivalent; Advanced Life Support certification.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels and to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues respectfully.

Postgraduate Education
- Sufficient experience in Intensive Care Medicine; successful completion of CT2/IMT2 or equivalent; demonstrated interest in postgraduate teaching.
- Experience in Simulation is desirable.

Salary: £65,048 per year inclusive of London Weighting (pro rata).
