Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Business Development Manager to join a leading international law firm’s London office on a 12-month contract. Reporting into the Business Development Director, this senior position sits within the Business Development team and provides strategic and day-to-day marketing and BD support to the firm’s Finance, Restructuring, and Structured Finance practices-all of which are consistently recognised for their expertise in complex, high-profile transactions.

You will work closely with Partners, Counsel, Associates, Analysts, and other business services teams, as well as senior stakeholders across Europe and the US, to deliver impactful BD initiatives and strengthen the market profile of these practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pitches & Proposals: Lead the creation of high-quality marketing materials, manage pitch processes, and provide commercial insights.
  • Strategic BD Planning: Drive cross-jurisdictional initiatives, draft business plans, and coordinate client outreach to support growth and collaboration.
  • Submissions: Manage directory and award submissions to enhance market recognition.
  • BD Infrastructure: Oversee deal reporting, league table submissions, and maintain BD tools and databases.
  • Thought Leadership & PR: Deliver flagship thought leadership projects, manage press releases, and develop social media strategies.
  • Client Engagement: Partner with events teams to identify opportunities, coordinate practice-specific events, and measure ROI.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Significant BD/Marketing experience at manager level or above, ideally within professional services (legal sector preferred).
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of finance and restructuring.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects across multiple stakeholders and geographies.
  • Line management experience with a hands-on, proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills; proficient in LinkedIn and familiar with finance-specific databases (Debtwire, 9fin, Mergermarket).
  • Confident, resilient, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
