A regional health authority in Wales is seeking a Senior Biomedical Scientist to manage histology services and lead training initiatives. You will oversee technical activities while providing leadership within the Cellular Pathology Department. The ideal candidate will have a relevant MSc qualification, HCPC registration, and experience as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Cellular Pathology. Welsh language skills at Level 1 or willingness to attain are desired in this role.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cellular Pathology leadership team in CTM. You will have the opportunity to lead and develop routine histology and training across the department.
This role requires the role holder to lead the day to day running of routine histology services and departmental training across Cellular Pathology. The role holder will respond to day-to-day queries and escalates complex issues to their Line Manager.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. It is not essential; we consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. Level 3 speaking and listening skills (CEFR B2) or above are sufficient.
Be a Senior Biomedical Scientist, Histology Manager and Training Lead in the main histology laboratory within the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) Cellular Pathology Department.
Be responsible for day‑to‑day management of all technical activities of the Histology laboratory, facilitating the smooth running of the service.
Lead the training within the department, supporting and developing staff within the Cellular Pathology Team.
Maintain an awareness of developments, contribute to strategic planning and provide cover for other sections of the Cellular Pathology Department.
Act as a day‑to‑day manager for staff, providing daily leadership of the routine Histology section, embracing the CTMUHB values and behaviours to inspire excellence.
Work to broad occupational policies and exercise significant discretion when dealing with a range of staff and equipment issues.
