The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, preparing accounts, providing technical support, and assisting with staff supervision and client advisory work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing year‑end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
  • Preparing management accounts, VAT returns, and bookkeeping as required
  • Reviewing accounts prepared by junior team members and providing mentoring or guidance
  • Managing client relationships and acting as the main point of contact for day‑to‑day queries
  • Supporting clients with business and tax planning advice where appropriate
  • Liaising with HMRC and other external bodies on behalf of clients
  • Ensuring work is completed accurately and within deadlines
  • Assisting partners with ad‑hoc projects and client advisory work
The Ideal Candidate
  • AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part‑qualified or qualified (or qualified by experience)
  • Minimum 3‑5 years' experience in an accountancy practice
  • Confident in preparing and reviewing accounts for a wide range of clients
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Proficient in accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar
  • Able to manage workload independently while supporting junior staff where required
