Primary Teaching Assistant - SEND Support - Newham Full Time Term Time Only January 2026 Start Up to 110 per day Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)

Long Term Futures are looking to appoint a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Newham, supporting a number of pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 who have a range of additional needs.

This is a rewarding and varied role, ideal for someone who has experience working with children who require tailored support, consistency, and strong communication. You'll be working alongside class teachers and the SENDCo to ensure each child can access learning and make measurable progress.

The school offers excellent staff support, a caring community feel, and opportunities to develop your skills through ongoing training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with SEND
  • Assist pupils with communication, regulation, learning tasks, and social interaction
  • Adapt activities and scaffold learning under guidance from the class teacher
  • Support pupils with mild personal care or sensory needs when required
  • Help maintain an inclusive, nurturing, and positive classroom environment
  • Contribute to progress tracking and SEND provision plans
Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience supporting children with SEND (ASC, speech and language, learning needs, SEMH)
  • A patient, nurturing and enthusiastic approach
  • Confidence working across EYFS, KS1 or KS2
  • Understanding of safeguarding and individual learning plans
  • A background in education, childcare, youth work, or SEN support is desirable

  • Close to Stratford, Plaistow, Canning Town, Forest Gate, East Ham
