Position: Teaching Assistant - Hearing Impaired
Location: Winslow, Buckinghamshire
Contract Type: Full-Time - Term Time Only
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £90 - £120 per day (depending on experience)

Are you committed to supporting children with hearing impairments? A welcoming, inclusive school in Winslow is seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant to work closely with pupils who are deaf or who have hearing impairments. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference by helping students build confidence, develop communication skills, and access learning in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with class teachers to adapt lessons for pupils with hearing impairments
  • Support communication through the use of radio aids, visual cues, and lip-reading techniques
  • Provide 1:1 and small group interventions focused on language, listening, and social skills
  • Assist with the implementation of IEPs, risk assessments, and therapy care plans
  • Collaborate with the SENCO, families, and external professionals, including Teachers of the Deaf

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with pupils with Hearing Impairments (HI), or a strong interest in developing this skillset
  • Understanding of SEN and inclusive classroom practices
  • British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1-3 or Makaton (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience supporting phonics, especially for pupils with cochlear implants (beneficial)
  • Strong communication skills, empathy, and a proactive approach
  • A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
