SEN Teacher - English & Maths
Location: Stockport

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher with a specialism in English and Maths to join our team in Stockport. This role is ideal for a passionate teacher who thrives in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver differentiated English and Maths lessons tailored to individual learning needs

  • Adapt teaching methods to support students with a range of SEND, including SEMH, ASD, and learning difficulties

  • Track and assess student progress, implementing targeted interventions where necessary

  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCO, and parents to ensure consistent support

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment

  • Support students with developing life skills and confidence alongside academic progress

Must-Have Skills
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS

  • Strong subject knowledge in English and Maths

  • Proven experience teaching students with SEND

  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills

  • Understanding of safeguarding and commitment to student wellbeing

Good-to-Have Skills
  • Experience writing and reviewing EHCP targets

  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECs, or other communication systems

  • Familiarity with trauma-informed or therapeutic teaching approaches

Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Additional SEND qualifications (NASENCO, Autism Awareness, Team Teach)

  • Experience delivering functional skills or entry-level qualifications

  • Creative lesson planning using practical, hands-on approaches
