Job summary

Job description

We are looking for a passionate Teacher to join our Secondary SEN team, supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to develop confidence, communication, and a love for language. Prefreably, you will be an English Teacher or have experience delivering English at GCSE or Functional Skills level.

The Role
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons (KS3-KS4) for students with ASD and additional needs.
  • Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, Therapists, and the SENCO.
  • Support individual learning goals and contribute to EHCP reviews.
  • Promote literacy and social communication through creative teaching strategies.
The School
  • This is a small, independent SEN school for learners with a diagnosis of autism.
  • A bespoke pathway has been created to meet the needs of the learners.
  • It is a collaborative school, liaising with all parties to create an ideal environment.
  • Careful class groupings, between 5 and 8 pupils, not necessarily linear.
  • All pupils have an EHCP.
  • Counsellor, SALT and wellbeing practitioners on site to work alongside educational staff.
About You
  • Holds QTS/QTLS (or is working towards it).
  • Experience teaching English at GCSE and Functional Skills levels.
  • Has experience teaching or supporting students with ASD or SEN.
  • Demonstrates empathy, patience, and a commitment to inclusive learning.
  • Can adapt lessons creatively to meet a range of needs and abilities.
  • Enjoys being part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team.
