Job summary

A dedicated educational institution in Newham is looking for a proficient Teaching Assistant with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to support pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis. The ideal candidate will have classroom presence, strong behavior management skills, and the ability to build rapport with students and staff. Responsibilities include supervising cover work, managing student behavior, and ensuring students complete assignments to a high standard.

Qualifications

TimePlan Education are working with a mixed mainstream Secondary Schools in Newham who are looking to secure a Teaching Assistant with SEN experience to support pupil(s) on a 1:1 or small group basis

Responsibilities
  • Supervising the cover work set by the absent teacher
  • Ensuring the children have the required resources and knowledge to complete the work set by the teacher
  • Managing the behaviour of pupils during the lesson to ensure all work is completed to a high standard
  • Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies
  • Collecting completed work after lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher/department
Experience Needed
  • Experience of working with children within a school setting (Ideally secondary)
  • Strong classroom presence and ability to manage behaviour as and when needed
  • Ability to build a rapport with children, staff and parents
  • Bachelor's Degree/Equivalent (not essential)
