Job Title: SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Hounslow

Contract: Full-time, long-term

We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming SEN school in Hounslow. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HLTA, a confident SEN Teaching Assistant, or an aspiring teacher seeking to gain valuable classroom leadership experience before progressing into a teaching qualification.

Overview

As the HLTA, you will take responsibility for leading a small class of 7-8 children with a range of special educational needs. You will be supported by an experienced Teaching Assistant in the classroom, allowing you to focus on planning and delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to the needs of your pupils.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver lessons and learning activities to meet the needs of individual children
  • Support and nurture pupils with SEN, ensuring they are fully engaged in their learning
  • Lead a small class, with the support of a Teaching Assistant, creating a safe and inclusive environment
  • Use a variety of strategies to manage behaviour positively and effectively
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support children's progress and wellbeing
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience working with children with SEN in a school setting
  • A valid and up-to-date DBS
  • Experience in teaching or leading groups of children (essential)
  • The confidence to take on classroom leadership responsibilities
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
