Job summary

A specialist education provider in Stockport seeks a Secondary SEN Learning Support Assistant to support KS3 and KS4 pupils with additional needs from January 2026. The ideal candidate will have a background in psychology or youth work, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable learners. Qualifications

• Experience in educational settings, particularly with KS3/KS4 pupils.
• Willingness to apply for an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support within the SEN provision.
• Support pupils’ emotional regulation and behaviour.
• Assist with adapting learning materials to individual needs.
• Monitor progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.

Skills

Experience working with secondary-aged young people

Strong communication skills

Understanding of SEN and SEMH needs

Ability to de-escalate calmly

Patient and empathetic approach

Education
