Secondary Learning Support Assistant – Stockport

Location: Stockport, UK

Start Date: September 2025

Contract Type: Long Term

Salary: Paid to scale, depending on experience

Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt lessons and learning materials
  • Support literacy, numeracy, and emotional wellbeing interventions
  • Build strong relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and independence
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
  • Track student progress and behaviour, reporting concerns when needed
Qualifications
  • Experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally in an education or support setting
  • A good understanding of SEN and how to implement support strategies
  • Strong communication, patience, and behaviour management skills
  • A calm, empathetic, and proactive attitude
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed
  • A fully enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
  • A CV covering the last 10 years with satisfactory references and no unexplained gaps
