A popular visitor attraction is seeking marine operatives to helm clinker-built powerboats in Loch Dunvegan. Ideal candidates will have a Level II Powerboat licence with necessary endorsements. The role involves leading guided trips to observe wildlife, ensuring passenger safety at all times, and enhancing visitor experiences with educational insights. Training will be provided for the right candidates, and a commitment to safety and responsible operation is essential.
Operate the clinker-built powerboats at MacLeod Estates Marine Operation safely and to the required H&S and other legislation requirements pertaining to marine pleasure trips to the visitors in Loch Dunvegan.
We are looking for marine operatives to join our existing team at one of our most popular and busy visitor attractions at Dunvegan Castle & Gardens. With responsibility for helming one of three traditional clinker-built boats with up to 7 passengers on short trips to see the Loch Dunvegan common seal colony, the ideal candidate will have the required Level II Powerboat licence with commercial endorsements: VHF radio, Sea Survival and First Aid (or acceptable equivalents). Training will be provided.
Skipper the boats to run the various pleasure trips to observe the resident Common Seal colony in Loch Dunvegan such that the animals are not disturbed, the passengers’ safety is paramount, and the trips run to the required time and course.
Offer guided trips such that the variety of wildlife observed is protected and the visitor experience is enhanced by imparting knowledge of the wildlife and habitat within the parameters of the trip.
Occasionally situations may arise that require the post holder to perform other duties or tasks outwith this remit as may be reasonably requested by the Estate.
