Job Summary

Revvity (formerly Horizon Discovery), is a leading life science company that delivers science-driven research solutions advancing the understanding of the genetic basis of disease and the delivery of better healthcare outcomes for patients. Revvity Preclinical Services acts as a discovery partner for leading pharma and biotech companies worldwide, providing research services and tools to support the development of personalized medicines.

Due to growth of our state‑of‑the‑art Cell‑Based Screening and Functional Genomic Screening Platforms, we have an exciting opportunity for a Scientist 1 to join our Preclinical Services team. As a Scientist 1 in the Preclinical department, you will be responsible for executing cell and molecular biology, and automation workflows generate data for high‑throughput compound screens and CRISPR‑Cas9 functional genomic screens for fee‑paying commercial clients. Your daily activities will directly align to and benefit Revvity’s goals and values.

This is a lab‑based role and involves some repetitive tasks. Candidates should be organised, self‑motivated, able to work to tight timelines and be comfortable working under pressure in an environment with shifting priorities.

Note that this position requires flexible working to cover 7‑day operations (rota based).

In this role you will:
  • Use various cell and molecular biology techniques, laboratory automation and lab information management systems (LIMS) to contribute to the delivery of projects across different parts of the Preclinical Services team, including arrayed compound screening, cell line engineering, and/or pooled functional genomics screening, with appropriate supervision.
  • Following training, independently execute detailed tasks according to SOPs, recording any deviations as necessary.
  • Accurately process, record, and report all data generated in a precise and organized manner
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of screening processes and workflows to maximise effectiveness and reduce costs.
  • Communicate data and information clearly to your colleagues.
  • Use resources effectively, holding yourself and others accountable for high standards.

You will also be required to work collaboratively and be an effective team member within our overall Cell‑based Services Department, supporting your own and other groups, as appropriate.

About You
Essential skills:
  • Degree in a Biological Discipline covering mammalian cell biology
  • Minimum one year of full‑time laboratory experience (industry experience preferred)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent aseptic technique and hands‑on experience of mammalian cell culture techniques, for example cell line passaging, cell revivals and banking etc.
  • A strong interest in using laboratory automation and LIMs to produce high quality products
  • Self‑aware with a diligent nature, good attention to detail and good record keeping skills
Desirable skills:
  • Practical experience with liquid handling robotic equipment and LIMS (although full training will be provided)
  • Technical knowledge of gene editing and gene modulation technologies.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of molecular biology techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and basic interpretation of sequencing data.
  • Experience of high throughput screening and knowledge of combination screening, including analysing and interpreting compound dose response experiments.
  • An understanding of Quality Management Systems
  • An interest in Lean methodologies (e.g. 5S, 8‑wastes, Kaizen etc)
  • Experience working in an Industrial / CRO setting.

If you're enthusiastic about scientific delivery, bring a positive 'can-do' attitude, and thrive in collaborative team environments supporting drug discovery, we'd love to hear from you!
