About the role: Science Laboratory Technician

Activate Learning are looking for a Science Laboratory Technician to join our team in Oxford.

You will be responsible for providing technical support for the Science Laboratory facilities which include, ensuring the teachers and our learners fully equipped in preparation for their lessons, making sure the environment is clean, safe and well stocked in line with Health and Safety requirements. In addition, you will be required to support the teacher in the delivery of all teaching programmes and be present during the lessons to offer additional support to learners if required.

Oxford College has a very experienced teaching team and an exciting curriculum for the selected candidate to work with which spans across Access to Higher Education, A-Levels and our BTEC qualifications. The core area of work will be with our Chemistry students.

This is a permanent, part-time position working 17.5 hours per week during term time (0.40 FTE) at our City of Oxford College campus.

What do you need to be a successful Science Laboratory Technician at Activate Learning?

  • Level 4 or above qualification in Chemistry
  • Experience of laboratory work
  • Experience in writing risk assessments and COSHH assessments

The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and be IT literate.

In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
