Overview

School Site Supervisor (Caretaker ) – Blackburn

We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Site Supervisor to join a local school in Blackburn. If you're practical, organised, and enjoy DIY or general maintenance work, this could be the ideal role for you.

Key Details

  • Hours: 25 per week
  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
  • Contract: Temp to perm

The successful candidate will report to the Headteacher/SBM for security, janitorial duties and aspects of general maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Open and secure the school, including alarm system management
  • Support and monitor a team of cleaners
  • Conduct regular safety and maintenance checks
  • Perform general repairs, minor plumbing, decorating, and DIY tasks
  • Light gardening and grounds maintenance (weeding, leaf clearing, litter picking)
  • Ensure safe access during adverse weather (e.g. snow, ice, leaves)
  • Monitor and report site issues or damages to senior staff
  • Support school events by setting up furniture and equipment
  • Liaise with contractors and record utility meter readings
  • Re-stock dispensers and consumables on site (hand towels, toilet rolls, etc.)
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in cleaning, maintenance, gardening
  • Practical skills in DIY or trades (caretaker experience a plus, but not essential)
  • Good communication and time management
  • Reliable, proactive, and willing to learn (training provided)
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willing to undertake online training as needed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
