Overview

The borough has three main bases for School Nursing aligned to Family Hubs and health centres. The teams are working towards a more integrated service offer within the Inner Northwest London (INW) division and a Clinical Service Unit (CSU) that includes Hammersmith and Fulham Health Visiting & School Nursing 0-19, Westminster Health Visiting, Kensington and Chelsea Health Visiting, and an integrated 0-19 SPA. There are three geographic teams (North, South and Central) managed by the School Health team lead. The clinical lead oversees Health Visiting and School Nursing with specialist health visitors covering perinatal mental health, SEND, MESCH and infant feeding. Each team includes a team lead, qualified health visitors, community staff nurses, nursery nurses, a dedicated practice development nurse, and alignment to early help staff. The service aims to deliver integrated and progressive care to children, young people and families, keeping care close to home.

We are seeking a School Health Team Lead to join our dynamic, diverse teams and champion the role of community health professionals to ensure families receive the best care locally.

Main duties
  • To provide clinical and professional leadership and manage 5-19 public health nursing (school nursing) teams, ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive and high-quality needs-led service.
  • To plan, organize and evaluate an innovative public health service, and delegate to team members where appropriate to ensure delivery of a high-quality service.
  • To provide a skilled, effective and evidence-based public health service to the school-aged population in a variety of school or community settings.
  • To collaborate with team colleagues to deliver the Quality Strategy objectives.
  • To develop leadership and management skills in others, supporting teams to plan, implement and evaluate the service.
