Location: Flackwell Heath

Term time only

Salary type: Bucks Pay

Salary Details: Bucks Pay Range 5-6, depending on experience

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: Part-time

About us

Carrington Junior School is a dynamic two-form entry Junior School in the village of Flackwell Heath on a linking site to the Infant School. Our school benefits from friendly, happy, motivated children and staff team, and is well supported by parents/carers and governors. Our school has an 8 place ARP for autistic pupils, and a higher than average SEND pupil cohort. Our school has an active extra-curricular offer, with sports, music, learning and drama clubs taking place most days before and after school.

While the business manager role is an admin-based role, full integration into the wider school community and events is encouraged.

Carrington Junior School is a dynamic place to work with lots going on and a supportive staff team. Our recent Ofsted (October 2024) stated, “Carrington Junior School is rightly proud of its welcoming and caring ethos.”.

Responsible for managing the strategy and operation of the business functions of the school, including financial management, health and safety, human resources, compliance and administration, under the direction of the headteacher and alongside the senior leadership team.

Carrington Junior School is part of Carrington Schools Federation, so there are opportunities for collaboration and support with the business manager of the adjacent infant school, and under the federated governance board, joint finance and resource meetings enable a positive relationship between the schools.

To advise on and implement the day-to-day support that enables the school to operate effectively and efficiently, and that allows members of the leadership team to focus on teaching and learning.

The School Business Manager works from a dedicated office space at the heart of the school, near the SLT offices, this is shared for two days a work with a part time admin assistant.

About you

You will be a flexible and an innovative person with experience in a school business manager role.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Expert knowledge of financial management
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Previous use of SIMS, FMS
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate a vision and inspire others
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with staff and other stakeholders
  • Understanding of data protection and confidentiality
