Contract : Permanent
Salary : £50,000 (DOE) + Commission + Company Car
Location : Tilbury / Essex
We are currently partnered with a leading aggregate business based in Essex, looking to hire a driven Sales Manager. This is an exciting, high-impact role where you will be instrumental in driving new business, expanding the client base, and contributing to the strategic growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities for aggregates in the construction, civil engineering, and infrastructure markets.
- Develop and maintain a robust customer pipeline — including contractors, asphalt producers, precast concrete manufacturers, and local authorities.
- Negotiate and secure sales contracts in line with company targets and pricing strategies.
- Monitor and report on competitor activity, market trends, and pricing.
Account Management
- Manage relationships with existing customers, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and repeat business.
- Provide technical support and advice on aggregate specifications, applications, and performance characteristics.
- Resolve customer issues and coordinate with operations / logistics teams to ensure reliable product delivery.
Market Development
- Promote the environmental and economic benefits of aggregates as a sustainable alternative to primary materials.
- Liaise with environmental bodies, local authorities, and regulatory agencies to support market acceptance and compliance.
- Assist in product trials, certifications, and approvals where needed.
Commercial & Reporting
- Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and performance reports.
- Work with the production and logistics teams to align sales with supply capabilities.
- Ensure all sales activities comply with company policies, health & safety standards, and relevant environmental legislation.
What We’re Looking for...
- Proven track record in aggregate sales, construction materials, or waste-derived products.
- Strong commercial acumen with negotiation and closing skills.
- Understanding of aggregate characteristics, specifications, and market applications (e.g., sub-base, road construction, fill materials).
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, quality standards (e.g., WRAP Protocol, BS EN standards), and planning frameworks.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and meet sales targets.
- Full UK driving licence
