Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of safeguarding laws including Care Act and Domestic Abuse Act.
  • Ability to act independently and as a team member.
  • Experience in data reporting to support strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safeguarding and vulnerable persons cases.
  • Represent at statutory meetings such as MARAC.
  • Develop partnerships with agencies like GPs and Social Care.

Job description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Neighbourhood Services team as a Safeguarding & Vulnerable Persons Coordinator. In this vital role, you'll lead on safeguarding and vulnerable persons cases across the Ocean Group, including high-risk situations such as domestic abuse. You'll be the go-to expert for advice and guidance, ensuring referrals are managed promptly and effectively, and that every customer receives a service that is compassionate, professional, and empowering.

What you’ll do
  • Take ownership of safeguarding and vulnerable persons cases, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.
  • Act as a key representative at MARAC, MAPPA, and other statutory meetings.
  • Build strong partnerships with agencies such as GPs, Mental Health Services, Social Care, Age UK, and First Light.
  • Embed a safeguarding culture across Ocean Housing and deliver training to colleagues.
  • Provide accurate reporting and data to support strategic decisions and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • A Level or equivalent Level 3 qualification (Safeguarding Level 2 desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Children Act, Domestic Abuse Act, and Equality Act.
  • Experience managing high‑risk cases and making safeguarding referrals for adults and children.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Resilience and empathy to handle sensitive disclosures and challenging situations.
