Job description

Overview

You will provide specialist advice, assurance, and assistance to the Commanding Officer on all aspects of health, safety, fire, environmental protection, radiation safety management at HMS Collingwood, its lodger units and outstations. Cwd HSEP is the Radiation Safety Officer and 4Cs Control of Contractors Appointed Person. This is a challenging but rewarding role that also provides the opportunity for personal development and the ability to improve and progress your career.

Whilst based in Atlantic Building in HMS Collingwood, a large part of your role is getting out around the site advising teams, conducting audits, rounds, and investigating health and safety issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide HSEP advice and assurance to all levels of line management in HMS Collingwood.
• Lead HMS Collingwood Safety Culture.
• Lead HSEP input into governance boards and meetings.
• Assure establishment safety through audits and rounds.
• Deliver duties of Establishment Fire focal point.
• Lead on visits to HMS Collingwood by external safety and regulatory bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive and Emergency Services.
• Deliver underpinning H&S activities including policies and approvals.
• Deliver Radiation Safety Officer duties
• HMS Collingwood 4Cs Control of Contractor’s Accountable Person.
• Manage the HSEP Team.

Qualifications / Expectations

The post holder is expected to remain current in relevant MoD and national H&S policy and guidance.
