Job Title: Roadside Technician
Reporting to: Technician Team Manager
Department: Technical Operations
Location: UK — Nationwide
Hours
Your hours of work will equate to a 48 hour working week and based on the current shift rota, any change to shift rotas are subject to one month’s notice of change.
Main Duties
Roadside Assistance and Repair
- Attend all breakdowns as requested by the Operations Centre within the requisite time period.
- Effect all repairs efficiently, competently and to the correct standard.
- Maintain and develop skills in all aspects of repair, service and maintenance.
- Make full use of all equipment and training provided to ensure maximum roadside repair rate.
- Inform the Operations Centre of the outcome of each job and request further assistance if required.
Customer Service
- Ensure that the service provided to the customer is of the highest standard in keeping with the brand image and the company’s standards.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Ensure that the Customer Service Vehicle is correctly maintained and serviced, minimising downtime.
- Ensure that the interior and exterior of the vehicle are clean and tidy at all times and that all parts and equipment are on board.
Stock Control
- Maintain stocks of required parts and tools carried in the Customer Service Vehicle at maximum levels and monitor parts usage to ensure correct levels are maintained.
- Proactively manage parts stocks in line with real requirements.
Telephone Assistance
- Provide technical assistance on the telephone to Recovery Operators, Customers and Operations Co-ordinators when requested.
Administration
- Ensure all paperwork and procedures relating to the vehicle, parts and assistance are completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure all warranty and goodwill procedures are followed.
You will also be responsible for the following:
Health & Safety
- Keep your work area safe and tidy at all times.
- Abide by the Health & Safety Work Act 1974.
- Notify the Company Health & Safety officer or the Managing Director of any Health & Safety issues which may cause harm to fellow employees.
Training
- Advise your Technician Supervisor of any areas of work for which you require additional training.
Quality Management System
- Work as a member of a team within the quality system and follow all documented quality procedures and instructions.
Key Performance Areas
- Aim to achieve 100% of all Company, departmental, team and individual key performance targets.
Appraisals
- Participate in and contribute towards individual annual appraisals, team meetings and regular one-to-one assessment sessions.
General
- Manage or assist with relevant ad-hoc projects as required by the Technician Team Manager.
- Complete all appropriate administration.
- Provide relevant reports to the Technician Team Manager on a monthly basis.
- Carry out any other additional duties as requested by the Technician Team Manager within the scope of your role.
Regulatory
- Work within and be compliant at all times with all relevant regulations and legislation applicable to the role.

Essential Attributes
- Appearance: Smart appearance.
- Education/Training/Qualifications: Good standard of general education. City and Guilds Technician Certificate Parts I and II or equivalent.
- Desirable: ATA Level III.
- Special Skills & Knowledge: Evidence of experience as a Motor Technician. Excellent fault finding skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Additional: Driving licence.

- Outgoing, Flexible and Adaptable, Patient, Diplomatic, Customer focused, Quality focused, Good communication skills.
