Overview

Maternity Leave cover Band 7 RM NURSE- CAMHS Eating Disorder Intensive Treatment Day Service for 15 hours per week 18 August 2025 - 17 August 2026. Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic senior nurse to join our new CAMHS Eating Disorder Day Service. The clinical model is in development and will be based on the Maudsley Intensive Treatment programme. The service will have capacity to support 10 young people each day. Key service aims include:

  • Supporting young people and families through a comprehensive 14 week group programme, entailing family therapy, CBT based groups, life skills and supported eating.
  • Prevention of need for an inpatient admission thereby allowing young people to be treated closer to home.

You would be part of an MDT, consisting of Nursing, Psychology, Dietician, Support Workers, Medics and Occupational Therapists. Knowledge of Eating Disorders and CAMHS is preferable. The successful candidate would be responsible for leading the day-to-day coordination of the unit as well as providing specialist nursing assessment, formulation and care planning. All members of the MDT will be trained in the Maudsley model of Family Therapy and form part of a care team delivering this intervention. There will also be one to one work with young people. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing individual and group work and will provide supervision and professional support to relevant colleagues. You will support service development through service evaluation and audit, as well as bringing new insights through research and keeping up to date with developments in the field.

Ideally you will have prior experience of working with eating disorders and experience of using therapeutic models associated with this client group.

To be a successful Senior Nurse Practitioner in our team you will be:

  • Professionally registered as a Mental Health Nurse within NMC
  • Able to lead on service development and project management, audit and evaluate care & treatment to develop the service
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Have experience of providing supervision
  • Show evidence of CPD
  • It is preferable for applicants to have experience of working in Eating Disorder Services and/or CAMHS although not essential
  • You must be able to demonstrate a caring, compassionate and non-judgmental attitude, and show a commitment to making a difference when supporting young people and their families on their recovery journeys
  • Flexible working will be considered in line with the Trust policy. Due to the nature of the service and interventions we provide, staff are required to be on site daily, with some opportunity to hybrid work on an adhoc basis
  • Educated to degree/ diploma level with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of CPD
  • NMC Registration, Experience of working in Eating Disorders and demonstrable achievement in clinical practice
  • Experience of providing professional support/supervision and motivation of staff
  • Experience of working with people with serious mental health problems
  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Desirable criteria: Experience of working in CAMHS, Ability to provide and receive complex and emotive information with staff, service users, carers and other stakeholders
  • An open and facilitative style of leadership which can be adapted when necessary to ensure delivery of objectives
  • Knowledge of the key drivers behind Care group Policy
  • An understanding of effective systems for integrated governance and the management of clinical and non-clinical risks
  • Resilient and self motivated with drive and vision that is able to work on own initiative and manage a range of priorities across competing agendas
  • Empathy towards the needs of people using mental health and related services
  • You must have appropriate UK professional registration
