The work focuses on the roles of the complement system, a known driver of neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, and the development and testing of novel brain-penetrant complement-blocking drugs in vitro and in vivo for their ability to inhibit the complement system, their penetrance into the brain, and their impact on disease pathology and disease progression. The ultimate aim is to develop brain-penetrant drugs to modulate complement dysregulation in AD that can be progressed to human trials.
