Overview

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to be appointed as a Research Manager.

This role will suit a self-motivated individual with strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to think laterally and work with minimal day to day supervision. The post holder will require excellent communication skills, have a positive and flexible approach to the needs of the Service, be motivated, ready for the next challenge and enjoy working as part of a very busy team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide operational management support for national programmes of work.
  • Develop strong working relationships with health and social care colleagues across academia, Welsh Government and clinical settings.
  • Work with NHS R&D offices and the Delivery Staff to develop local engagement strategies and initiatives which will fit with current practice to incentivise health and social care professionals to become involved in research.
  • Be responsible for identifying initiatives, capacity and resources across health and social care in Wales that can support research, ensuring that the Support and Delivery Centre co-ordinates the provision of complementary services and initiatives to increase health and social care research.

Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level in a Health/ Social Care discipline, Research or Management, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Additional qualification in a relevant field, for example Project Management
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Good understanding of clinical research
  • Good understanding of the challenges faced by health and social care providers and how these impact on the ability to include research as part of core business
  • Specialist knowledge of NHS and social care services in Wales and/ or the UK
  • Good knowledge of health-related research
Experience and Abilities
  • Significant experience of working in health and social care
  • Significant experience in working with multidisciplinary teams and cross-organisational working
  • Proven interpersonal skills to work with colleagues at all levels across a range of organisations

  • Ability to analyse and interpret research information and to make judgements
  • Ability to analyse information and problems, including complex problems, and to offer relevant solutions

  • IT skills particularly in the use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel and Access)
