Job description

Housing Repairs Complaints Surveyor required for a 3-6 month temporary contract, likely to become a fixed term or permanent contract in the future. The hourly pay rate will be based on a yearly salary of £40,777 working 37 hours a week, Monday - Friday.

A DBS check will be carried out by the client once the successful candidate has been selected. Please disclose any criminal convictions at the application stage.

This is a mixed role, including office and home working, with visits to tenants' properties. A car driver with their own vehicle is required, and all visits are locally based.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect repairs that have not been adequately described by the tenant or contractor
  • Organise the placing and management of responsive maintenance and specific contracts for repair work in all trades and by appropriate specialists
  • Organise schedules, manage contractors involving repair work which is not covered by current contract procedures
  • Supervise contractors, scrutinise and undertake technical audits
  • Organise minor works to rectify fire, flood damage
  • Carry out site visits in relation to tenant and leaseholders complaints
  • Advise tenants on easy remedies to protect their homes, security and energy saving
  • Compile and calculate the cost of schedules of repair, liaise with the Council's loss adjusters, when required
  • Investigate complaints received

Requirements
  • Experience in repairs, defects, maintenance, voids
  • Ability to inspect repairs and manage responsive maintenance and contractors
  • Social housing experience is highly desirable
  • Understanding of damp and mould issues
  • Knowledge of the upcoming Awaab's Law is advantageous
  • A confident and professional communicator
  • Car driver with own transport
  • Ability to organise a busy and varied workload, remain calm under pressure, and proactive in approach to tasks
  • PC literate with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills
