Job Advert: Registered Social Worker (Adult Services) – Social Care Qualified

Location: Monmouth

Employment Type: Temporary (12 Weeks)

Start Date: 12 January 2026

Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, including duty work)

Salary:

  • PAYE: £29.24 per hour
  • Umbrella: £39.32 per hour

Are you a Registered Social Worker with experience in Adult Services and a passion for person-centred practice? We are seeking a skilled and committed Social Worker to join Adult Services in Monmouthshire on a 12-week temporary assignment, supporting service continuity during long-term sickness cover. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working within a supportive, multi-disciplinary environment.

What You’ll Do:
  • Complete integrated and multi-disciplinary assessments that are person-centred and strength-based, focusing on "what matters" to individuals.
  • Develop care and support plans that define personal outcomes and measure the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Maintain and manage a caseload, empowering individuals, carers, and communities to promote sustainable wellbeing.
  • Provide accessible information and advice through an immediate response service.
  • Apply Fair Access to Care guidance in line with Monmouthshire County Council policies.
  • Undertake risk assessments and develop proportionate risk management plans where required.
  • Support people through hospital discharge processes, promoting independence within community settings.
  • Uphold individuals’ rights under the Human Rights Act and Mental Capacity Act, ensuring least restrictive practice.
  • Carry out specialist assessments including Mental Capacity Assessments and Continuing Health Care assessments.
  • Prepare reports and contribute to Adult Protection meetings, case conferences, Court of Protection proceedings, and Quality Assurance groups.
  • Work collaboratively with communities, providers, and partner organisations to develop community-based solutions.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and complete financial assessments in line with local and national frameworks.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration.
  • Experience working within Adult Social Care, including safeguarding and multi-agency working.
  • Strong assessment, report-writing, and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and Human Rights legislation.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
Essential Requirements:
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Signed Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ references/work history.
