Registered Nurse (12 Month Fixed Term) - Surgical

Registered Nurse | Surgical Ward | Private Hospital | Solihull, Birmingham | 12 Month Fixed Term Contract | Spire Parkway Hospital has an exciting opportunity for 2x surgical ward nurses to join our experienced and dynamic team on a fixed term contract basis. This is to cover maternity leave for a 12-month fixed term contract. This role will be full time, which will include a variety of shift patterns including long days and nights.

Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull, West Midlands offers a comprehensive range of private hospital services. Our hospital is rated Good by the CQC for all parts of the inspection except for Patient Care, which is rated Outstanding. The report states, "Staff treated patients with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, took account of their individual needs, and helped them understand their conditions. They provided emotional support to patients, families and carers."

Our dedicated hospital team are passionate about excellent patient care and we offer a range of specialist treatments to patients across Birmingham, Warwickshire and the West Midlands. This includes diagnostic services, rehabilitation, cutting‑edge surgical procedures and excellence in specialist fields like orthopaedics, women's health and cancer care. We have 51 bedrooms and five operating theatres.

Duties and responsibilities

Working within a highly supportive team you will be responsible for assessing patient’s health and wellbeing across a complex and changing caseload on one of our busy surgical wards, assisting in the delivery of care to meet the patient’s needs. You provide post‑operative care such as wound dressing, IVs and drains. You will have the opportunity to develop your own knowledge and skills and that of others while promoting best practice in health and safety and security.

Who we’re looking for
  • Registered Nurse with NMC registration
  • Previous nursing experience
  • Competence across a range of nursing skills supported by professional and clinical knowledge
  • Possess the mandatory training requirements for role including infection control and health and safety competencies
  • Basic workload / shift management
  • Able to demonstrate the principles of accountable practice
  • Knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies, such as the Care Quality Commission
