Job description

We're hiring a passionate Registered Manager to empower young people in our therapeutic children's home in Derby. Lead a high-performing team, maintain top-tier standards, and build an environment where children feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the home in line with Children's Homes Regulations 2015, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance.
  • Oversee care planning, statutory reviews, and progression for Looked After Children.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, child-centred care.
  • Provide strong leadership to staff through supervision, coaching, development, and performance management.
  • Manage home budgets, administration, reporting, and operational processes.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, well-kept home environment, ensuring full Health & Safety and Fire Safety compliance.
  • Promote young people's voice, participation, and involvement in daily life and decision-making.
  • Lead on audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement to achieve Good/Outstanding Ofsted outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships with local authorities, partner agencies, and the community.
Requirements
Essential
  • NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Childcare (required)
  • Experience within children's residential care (senior or managerial level)
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Ofsted regulations, and residential childcare legislation
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and decision-making skills
  • Commitment to child-centred, trauma-informed, and high-quality practice
Desirable
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare
  • Experience achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes
  • Understanding of trauma, attachment, SEMH needs, and therapeutic approaches
