Job description
Overview

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to become a member of our Outpatient Reception team.

We have x2 Permanent Receptionist posts available. These posts are 37.5 hours per week and would be split across the four Outpatient Reception areas of the Bristol Dental Hospital. The working schedule is 8.30 am to 5.00 pm (1 hour lunch); however, the successful candidate will be asked to work 8.00 am to 4.30 pm (1 hour lunch) on a rota basis. This will be Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Greet arriving patients and their families, assist with clinic preparation and carry out general clerical duties under the supervision of the Outpatient Reception Team Leader.
  • Liaise with wards, clinical staff, GPs and Trust support staff in person, via telephone and email as required.
  • Provide a caring and professional approach towards patients, relatives and carers, including handling distressed patients empathetically while remaining resilient.
  • Carry out associated clerical duties, for example maintaining accurate filing systems, receiving post, diary management and scanning patient notes if required.
  • Keep waiting areas tidy and ensure patient information materials are up to date.
  • Input outcomes of appointments, including those of patients who did not attend, on the Patient Administration System (PAS) and other relevant computer systems in a timely and accurate manner according to Trust standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion and comply with the Data Protection Act and local Trust policies at all times.
  • Act with flexibility to utilise skills in other functions when appropriate.
  • Be aware of Service and Trust policies and guidelines and ensure all are adhered to.
