We're looking for a Ranger to help us protect wildlife and manage Blakeney Point. This is a physically demanding, hands‑on role that offers a unique opportunity to live and work in a remote, tide‑dependent location. Seasonal accommodation is provided, and the role includes weekend, bank holiday and occasional evening work, with some on‑call responsibilities.
From March to October, you'll live and work with a small team in the Lifeboat House on Blakeney Point. Access is tide‑dependent, so you'll use a boat and 4x4 to get around. From November to March, you'll be based at Blakeney, occasionally supporting at Brancaster and Horsey. You'll need to find your own accommodation on the mainland and support management of the UK's largest grey seal colony.
In summer you'll prepare for the arrival of nesting seabirds by installing electric fencing, signage to guide visitors safely around sensitive areas, and enforcing dog restrictions to protect wildlife during critical breeding seasons. Once the birds arrive, your focus shifts to monitoring and surveying, and engaging positively with visitors. You'll also support the onboarding and development of the Seasonal Assistant Ranger, helping them settle in and build confidence as part of the team.
Applications from redeployees are assessed against the minimum criteria for the role. Please detail how you meet the minimum criteria:
