This Position reports to: R&D Team Manager.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the construction, commissioning, and long-term operation of a medium voltage electrical test facility for our ABB Power Protection productions in Richmond, Virginia.

This role is contributing to the Electrification - Smart Power - Power Protection business in North America. Main stakeholders are the Power Protection R&D Agile Teams, factory operations teams, and service teams.

Responsibilities

• Acting as a member of the Medium Voltage (MV) lab requirements team as the lab design is finalized.
• Coordinating the construction process for the lab, acting as the main point of contact for ABB between the ABB engineering teams specifying the lab, the local ABB test manager, and the contractors and subcontractors selected to build the facility, while driving the required schedule for completion.
• Developing and executing plans for MV lab commissioning.
• Responsible for operation and maintenance of the MV test lab in support of R&D engineering teams, including developing plans for safe operation.
• Develop automated test protocols and process to streamline test execution.

Job Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or similar.
• 5+ years of experience in high power electrical testing, commercial or industrial electrical systems, or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in a project management environment.
• Able to interface between many different organizations to coordinate construction of a complex electrical test laboratory.
• Experience in operation testing of Medium Voltage electrical systems (up to 34.5 kV) a plus.
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
