Overview

Quality Engineer - Plastic & Rubber Manufacturing
Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire. Onsite role
Shifts: Monday-Thursday 8:00-17:00, Friday 8:00-13:00. No weekend work
Salary: £36,000

Responsibilities
  • Lead quality assurance processes, ensuring products meet industry and customer standards.
  • Deal with and respond to customer returns, then analyse where issues or defects are originating.
  • Lead problem solving activities using industry standard methodologies: 8D, 5 Whys, 3C, DMAIC, Ishikawa (fishbone) diagrams, FMEA.
  • Liaise with internal departments, such as production and management.
  • Measure parts using a variety of skills and tools.
  • Perform inspections, audits (including third-party audits), and testing on plastic and rubber components.
  • Coordinate document control specifications, standards, and procedures.
Education and Qualifications
  • Strong experience working with automotive customers quality systems and understanding customer requirements.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a technical focus or time served in a comparable role.
  • An understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Understanding of quality tools and techniques (8D, Lean, 5 Whys, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, etc. preferred).
  • Experience in the rubber & plastic injection moulding industry is advantageous.
