Role: Quality Inspector

Location: Stevenage

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Inspector to join a high‑technology manufacturing operation producing complex, high‑precision components for the aerospace and defence sectors. This role is based within a modern production facility and plays a critical part in ensuring products meet stringent customer, regulatory, and industry standards. The position offers a hands‑on environment where quality, compliance, and continuous improvement are central to daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform first‑off, in‑process, and final inspections on precision‑engineered components.
  • Verify dimensional and geometric conformity using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Carry out CMM inspections and analyse results to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and GD&T requirements (training can be provided if needed).
  • Produce and maintain quality documentation including FAIRs, ISIRs, and inspection records in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Identify and manage non‑conformances, supporting root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Support compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards through accurate documentation and participation in internal audits.
  • Champion a Right First‑Time approach across the shop floor.
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in a Quality Inspector role within aerospace, defence, precision engineering, or a similar high‑tolerance manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Competence in the use of manual inspection equipment; CMM experience is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and AS9100.
  • High attention to detail with a structured and methodical inspection approach.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Proactive problem‑solving mindset with a commitment to maintaining exceptional quality standards.
