The Isle of Wight Talking Therapies Service are seeking highly motivated individuals to work as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. This is a permanent, full‑time position.

The successful candidate will have a recognised PWP qualification and will conduct initial mental health assessments and deliver evidence‑based low intensity interventions (CBT, graded exposure, behavioural experiments, guided self‑help, computerised CBT and pharmacological information) via video, telephone or face‑to‑face in a community clinic.

Main Duties
  • Conduct initial mental health assessments and identify the mental health cluster using the mental health clustering tool.
  • Deliver evidence‑based interventions via group setting, face‑to‑face, video chat and telephone.
  • Operate from an inclusive values base that promotes recovery and respects diversity.
  • Educate and involve family members and others in treatment where the client has given permission.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate step‑up and step‑down arrangements are in place for a stepped care approach.
  • Manage and convey sensitive information in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Analyse and interpret patient outcome measures (PHQ9, GAD7) and administer appropriate evidence‑based intervention, monitored through caseload management.
  • Assess clinical risk and refer to specialist mental health services autonomously if urgent, or in collaboration with the caseload manager if the risk is low but the client’s needs exceed brief psychological interventions.
  • Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to referral protocols, refer unsuitable clients to the relevant service, or step‑up treatment to high intensity psychological therapy.
