Join us as a Band 7 Psychological Professional working across Primary Care place-based teams in Coventry. We welcome and encourage applications from CBT therapists, registered psychological therapists, registered counsellors, clinical and counselling psychologists.

Do you have significant experience of working in mental health services and providing a range of evidence-based interventions to people with a variety of mental health problems and serious mental illness?

This is a unique opportunity to join the Psychology Service within our Primary Care-based Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, an ambitious service established over the past 2 years. We\'re passionate about offering the right psychological support early on, and in this role, you\'ll ensure our patients can access this care at the point of need.

You will be employed by Coventry and Warwickshire and Partnership NHS Trust but be embedded within a group of GP practices (Primary Care Network) with a focus on supporting local patients living in Coventry, offering care at the point of need.You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) environment and within an established Primary Care Psychology Service that is integrated within this MDT.

Main duties of the job

This is a patient facing post, so you will have a meaningful impact on improving the access, experience and outcomes for service users on a daily basis through promoting and offering early psychology assessments, formulations, brief psychological interventions and consultations in a recovery focused way. We recognise that placing specialist Psychology staff in GP practices will help people with mental health problems achieve the best possible outcomes.

This is a clinical role with some development opportunities which may include supporting our CWPT junior psychology team members; communication with our clinical directors, GPs and wider GP practice colleagues; supporting the Psychology Leads in the coordination of the day-to-day operational management needs and clinical issues arising from mental health service delivery.

You will also contribute to delivering and co-developing the primary care mental health service model. This includes care pathways for the provision of integrated mental health care within the Primary Care Networks and Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust.

Job responsibilities

To provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy, using complex psychological data gained from a variety of sources.

To ensure the systematic provision of psychological services, including the responsibility to prioritise work appropriately.

To communicate assessment results, formulations, outcome data, and other complex and sensitive information orally and in written form in order to support the work of multi-disciplinary colleagues.

To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, consultation and supervision to other professionals and staff contributing to the formulation,diagnosis, treatment plans and management of clients, both within and outside the Trust.

To contribute to the development of Primary Care Mental Health Services, reviewing service outcomes, designing and participating in audit, research and clinical governance initiatives, and working cooperatively with colleagues to achieve service goals and maximise service effectiveness. This will involve communication with a wide range of clinical and managerial colleagues, within and outside the Trust.

To provide supervision to assistant psychologists clinical associates in psychology, volunteers and other colleagues, as required.

Qualifications
  • Post-graduate Qualification in a psychological therapy
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialist psychological assessment methods and therapeutic approaches in relation to the client group.
  • Skills in applying this knowledge.
  • Well developed communication skills, suitable to the specialty.
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and the legal context. Evidence of continuing professional development.
Experience
  • Experience of working with adults and/or young people experiencing mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of working with a range of clients, presenting a range of clinical severity and maintenance of professionalism in challenging circumstances.
  • Experience of tailoring psychological assessment and intervention to individual needs.
  • Experience in providing consultancy to colleagues.
