Job Purpose:

An exciting opportunity for an organised, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our experienced team at Lucy Real Estate (LRE) as a Property Manager. You will be responsible for the letting and management of an extensive and varied portfolio of residential properties primarily located in Oxford and for ensuring that the operational, customer and financial objectives of LRE are delivered.

Business Overview:

Lucy Real Estate comprises Lucy Properties and Lucy Developments. Lucy Properties is a lettings & management business that invests in and manages 350 residential properties for over 850 tenants in Oxford, with in-house service and maintenance. Lucy Developments is a developer of high‑end, sustainable homes for sale, with prime sites within a 90‑minute commute time from Oxford.

Job Context:

A unique opportunity to work for a private landlord where you will be responsible for the end to end letting and property management process for your own portfolio of real estate.

Job Dimensions:

This role will be based at the Lucy Group headquarters in Jericho, Oxford and you will report to the LRE Estates Manager. You will be a key member of our small team of Property Managers and will work closely with our administrative support team, help desk and maintenance team.

Lucy Group has operating businesses across multiple sectors: Lucy Controls, Lucy Electric and Lucy Real Estate. The Group creates wide‑ranging products, services and solutions for customers across 60 countries in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Lucy Real Estate owns and manages a property portfolio with an annual rental income in excess of £10m per annum consisting of residential and commercial property assets. As one of Oxford’s largest private landlords it has the enviable reputation of being progressive, ethical and professional with a high‑quality property portfolio. It also includes Lucy Developments, a property development business building premium houses and apartments for sale in Oxfordshire and surrounding counties.

Key Accountabilities:

These will include:

  • Project manage the full lettings lifecycle, from marketing and viewings through to move‑in, tenancy management, and move‑out, ensuring minimal void periods and maximising rental income. This includes conducting viewings, preparing inventories and managing deposit deductions/refunds within agreed timeframes.
  • Proactively inspect properties and work with the Maintenance Manager to forecast maintenance needs, plan resources, and uphold property standards in line with compliance and tenant expectations.
  • Negotiate rent reviews and renewals to achieve or exceed target rental values while maintaining positive tenant relationships.
  • Ensure properties are marketed effectively and presented to the highest standard, leveraging market insights to attract and retain tenants.
  • Champion tenant engagement and community‑building initiatives, anticipating and resolving issues promptly to minimise conflict and foster a strong, connected tenant community.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, acting on Service Excellence KPIs and continuously improving processes to enhance tenant satisfaction.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to create social value across the portfolio, supporting Lucy Group’s corporate social responsibility and sustainability objectives.
  • Contribute to sustainability goals by embedding Lucy Group’s environmental policies into day‑to‑day property management practices.
  • Provide market intelligence and data‑driven insights to inform annual rental budgets, occupancy targets, and strategic planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of tenant and lease information within the property management system, ensuring compliance with legal and internal standards.
  • Work with the Estates Manager to deliver LRE’s strategic objectives and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Achieve or exceed rental income and occupancy targets, actively monitoring arrears and implementing effective recovery strategies.
  • Participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota, ensuring continuity of service and rapid response to urgent issues.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Proven experience in property management or lettings, with a strong understanding of end‑to‑end tenancy processes (marketing, move‑in, tenancy management, and move‑out).
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and foster a sense of community among tenants.
  • Strong organisational and project management abilities, capable of managing multiple properties and priorities effectively.
  • Negotiation and problem‑solving skills, with experience handling rent reviews, tenant issues, and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of relevant property legislation and compliance requirements, with a commitment to staying up to date with new regulations.
  • Good understanding of rental income and occupancy performance, including monitoring arrears and ensuring targets are met.
  • IT proficiency, including property management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Adaptability and resilience, able to respond to changing demands and participate in an out‑of‑hours rota when required.
  • Commitment to sustainability and social value, supporting corporate responsibility initiatives and environmental goals.
  • Full driving licence.
