South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority is looking for a passionate Project Manager to lead transformative projects that will shape the future of public transport across South Yorkshire.

  • Lead and manage projects through all stages - from planning and risk management to delivery and benefits realisation.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation including schedules, reports, risk registers, and cost forecasts.
  • Manage budgets, contracts, and resources, ensuring value for money and timely delivery.
  • Prepare and submit business cases, ensuring alignment with governance and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, local authorities, operators, and the public to ensure successful outcomes.
    We're looking for someone who is organised, detail‑oriented, an excellent communicator and collaborator, with recent hands‑on experience managing projects through every stage using robust controls and processes., A degree (or equivalent experience) in Civil, Highways or Transportation Engineering, Transport Planning, Technology, or Project Management.
  • Recent experience managing capital projects in a transportation or multidisciplinary environment, ideally within the public sector or a similar complex setting.
    Hours : 37 hours per week | Contract : Permanent | Salary : £41,511 - £44,711, Local Government Pension Scheme - comprehensive, flexible contributions, immediate life cover and terminal illness cover after 2 years.
  • Continuous Employment - entitlement calculations including annual leave, maternity leave and enhanced sick pay transfer when moving from a local government employer.
  • Enhanced Holiday Entitlement - from 28 to 36 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), pro‑rata for part‑time colleagues.
  • Annual Leave Purchase Scheme - purchase up to a further 15 days per year in addition to normal leave.
  • Hybrid working - majority of roles offered on a hybrid basis with certain support roles onsite full time; remote contracts not accommodated unless specified.
