Job description
Project Manager – Industrial Projects

Location: Greater Manchester

Sector: Industrial Services / Heavy Engineering

This is not a paper-pushing Project Manager role.

This is for someone who knows how to own complex industrial projects, manage risk, and deliver safely in high‑pressure environments.

Our client is a well‑established industrial services business operating nationally, delivering technically challenging projects across heavy engineering, lifting, machinery installation, and industrial relocation. They are growing and they need a Project Manager who can lead from the front.

The Role

You will take full responsibility for end‑to‑end delivery of industrial projects, from planning through execution to handover. That means:

  • Owning project scope, programme, cost, and safety
  • Coordinating site teams, subcontractors, and specialist suppliers
  • Managing RAMS, lifting plans, and method statements
  • Acting as the primary client interface
  • Anticipating problems before they become incidents
  • Delivering projects on time, safely, and profitably

This role requires decisive leadership, not supervision from the sidelines.

What They’re Looking For

You don’t need to be polished – you need to be effective. You’ll likely come from:

  • Industrial services
  • Heavy lifting / crane operations
  • Engineering installation
  • Mechanical or electrical project delivery
  • Industrial maintenance or relocation projects

You should bring:

  • Proven project management experience in industrial or engineering environments
  • Strong understanding of site safety and risk management
  • Confidence dealing directly with clients and senior stakeholders
  • The ability to manage multiple moving parts without losing control
  • A practical, solutions‑led mindset
  • Formal PM qualifications are useful, real‑world delivery experience matters more
Why This Role
  • Stable, growing business with a strong order book
  • Complex, interesting projects (not repetitive build work)
  • High trust role with genuine autonomy
  • Long‑term career opportunity, not a stopgap

This is a role for someone who wants responsibility, ownership, and progression.
