Overview

Are you an experienced project manager with a passion for delivering nature recovery, protecting our natural and cultural heritage and engaging more people with nature?

We're looking for a Project Manager to lead the development of our new "Building the Foundations for 'Corridor Connections' project which will create and deliver a long term, large-scale landscape connection programme across the White Peak. There is a unique opportunity to connect people to the natural and cultural heritage of the area using existing trails which have been formed from old railway lines. This is a rare opportunity to lead the development of a ground-breaking National Lottery Heritage funded project within the Peak District National Park.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of the project and the long-term landscape connection programme across the White Peak.
  • Build knowledge and understanding of land and species condition to enable evidenced-based decisions on where and how to have the most impact.
  • Identify and grow partnerships across the White Peak, consolidate and expand knowledge, skills and experience, and explore potential green-career pathways.
  • Engage communities, including underserved communities, landowners, businesses and farmers, to create a future transformational landscape connection bid and programme.
  • Report to the Head of Landscape & Engagement and work closely with Authority specialists and key partners.
  • Be based at Aldern House with regular travel around the White Peak area of the Park.
  • Manage project planning, delivery, finance, monitoring & evaluation, securing funding, and managing staff, volunteers and contractors.
  • Lead, inspire and collaborate with multiple stakeholders including statutory bodies, NGOs, communities and other stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of conservation, ecosystem services, access to the countryside, and the interaction between recreation, land management and conservation.

Contract and benefits

This is a fixed term contract post up to 18 months, dependent upon the start date. The role requires occasional working in the evening, at weekends and public holidays.
