Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in monitoring project progress.
  • Maintain high technical standards for safety and reliability.
  • Coordinate engineering activities of subcontractors and teams.
  • Assist in preparing tenders and assessing technical accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Maintain communication with contractors and clients.
  • Compile asset documentation and H&S file requirements.

Project Engineer – signalling

24 months initial contract – Potential Extension

Manchester

£400- £450 outside of IR35

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our rail engineering team. This role will support the delivery of engineering packages on projects, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of safety, technical compliance, and delivery performance.

The Project Engineer (PE) will play a vital role in supporting the Project Engineering Manager (PEM) and Project Manager to deliver rail signalling projects to specification, on time, and within budget.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • IRSE Licence: 7.8.110F (Mandatory)
  • IRSE Logbook: Must be maintained and meet criteria set by IRSE
  • Valid ATW (Authority to Work)
  • COSS (Controller of Site Safety) Competence
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Appreciation and understanding of:
    • Signalling design, construction, and testing
    • Safe railway working practices
    • Network Rail standards and design approval processes
    • Possession and access planning
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager in monitoring progress across design, construction, testing, and financial stages of projects.
  • Maintain high technical standards to ensure safety and long-term reliability of signalling systems.
  • Coordinate engineering activities of subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Assist in preparing tenders, assessing technical accuracy, and making commercial recommendations.
  • Oversee compliance with CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation, and company safety procedures.
  • Maintain communication with contractors and clients to ensure alignment on project goals.
  • Compile asset documentation, H&S file requirements, and trackers.
