The role

As a Project Assistant, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll help deliver critical engineering and programme management services that keep the UK’s submarines operational and safe. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to national security and support the Royal Navy’s mission.

Day-to-day, you’ll work within a collaborative team, managing schedules, tracking demand, and ensuring projects run smoothly. Your role will make a real difference to the safety of submariners and the success of our enterprise.

  • Manage scheduling of key events to protect strategic and operational requirements
  • Assist in developing BI reports and maintaining demand tracking systems
  • Monitor risk management plans and assess changes in work scope against forecasts
  • Support development of communications to convey issues promptly
  • Track KPIs related to availability and planning

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements, due to desk availability this may change on a weekly basis and will be discussed at the time of interview.

Essential experience of the Project Assistant
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain strong relationships
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and activities
  • Skilled in prioritising work and balancing resources across multiple packages
  • Experience managing budgets and understanding funding routes
  • Ability to capture and present project information clearly
Qualifications for the Project Assistant
  • APM Project Foundation Qualification (PFQ) or equivalent (advantageous)
  • Management of Subcontractors training or equivalent - Desirable
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent - Desirable
