Job Description
If you’re an architect who thrives on complexity, collaboration and making a visible impact, this is a rare opportunity to step into a senior design role within a dedicated transport team based in Glasgow. The studio is growing steadily and now looking to appoint a Project Architect or Senior Architect who can bring leadership, technical rigour and creative thinking to some of the most challenging and rewarding infrastructure schemes in the UK.
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit in a quiet corner and mark up drawings. The work is fast-paced, multidisciplinary and full of moving parts. You will be trusted to lead packages of work through every stage, guiding teams across design, technical delivery and stakeholder engagement. The projects demand architects who are not only confident in Revit and adept at handling large sets of technical information, but who also understand how to coordinate effectively with engineers, planners and consultants to deliver buildings that function under pressure while still standing out as high quality pieces of design.
The culture here is professional but supportive. Flexibility is embraced, with options to balance time between home and the Glasgow studio, but there is a strong emphasis on collaboration and knowledge sharing. The transport sector is notoriously demanding, and success relies on a team that is tightly connected. You’ll work closely with senior leaders who bring decades of sector experience and who will look to you to mentor more junior staff, drive quality and uphold the reputation of the team.
This is also a role with genuine scope to develop. The transport team is part of a wider multidisciplinary practice, and architects who join here are exposed not only to architecture but to the interface between engineering, interiors, sustainability and planning. If you are motivated by the idea of broadening your skill set, building client-facing confidence and taking on leadership responsibility, you’ll find no shortage of opportunity.
What you bring is just as important as what you’ll get out of it. You’ll need to be a qualified architect with proven delivery experience on large, complex projects. A solid command of Revit is essential, along with a strong grasp of UK building regulations and technical standards. Experience within infrastructure or transport would be a distinct advantage, but the team is open to strong architects from other sectors who can demonstrate resilience, problem-solving skills and the ability to lead confidently in demanding environments.
Joining this team means contributing to work that directly shapes the way people move, connect and experience the built environment every single day. It means tackling design problems that matter, working with colleagues who value excellence, and growing your career within a studio that combines global resources with local expertise.
If you’re ready to step into a role where your skills will be tested, your creativity stretched and your career accelerated, then this could be the next step you’ve been waiting for.
