Job description

Job Title: Production Support Operative

Location: Sheffield / Barrow in Furness - must be willing to travel to Barrow

Salary: £32,926

What you'll be doing:
  • Working safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety Regulations, as well as any other regulation and guidelines
  • Selecting and preparing consumables, materials, components and equipment
  • Forklift truck activities
  • Follow the relevant instructions, and any other Quality Standards/specifications
  • Use associated tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Work in accordance with specified procedures and instructions i.e. Risk Assessments & COSHH Assessments
  • Report any hazards, near misses and incidents in a timely manner in line with company procedures
  • Complete daily safety checks on equipment through daily process confirmations
  • Operate basic equipment such as pressure wash equipment and shot blasting
Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Experience of working in a similar position in a manufacturing facility
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and, when required, alone
  • Ability to follow manufacturing Instruction, to listen and follow verbal instructions
  • Ability to work on own initiative

Desirable

  • A knowledge of COSHH and waste disposal
  • Preferred Forklift Truck licence/experience
  • Preferred Crane Operation/Slinging experience
  • Preferred experience of operating basic plant equipment

The Sheffield Operations team:

You'll join the Sheffield Operations team within Weapon Systems UK, a close-knit group of around 20 people supporting the delivery of world-class defence systems. The team plays a key role in maintaining a safe, efficient and well-run production environment. In this role, you'll work closely with both production and facilities teams, contributing directly to the day-to-day running of the site.
