Job description
Overview

A Production Operative (Buffing) in the Machine Shop are responsible for Buffing finished parts to a high cosmetic standard using handheld power tools. They are also responsible for providing specific tools to the required machines on the manufacturing lines to ensure production deadlines are met. Continental night shift (19:30-07:30).

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for buffing finished parts to a high cosmetic standard using handheld power tools
  • Responsible for returning tools to the appropriate location
  • Cleaning and inspecting tools
  • Responsible for all quality control on all outgoing tooling and parts
  • Responds quality alerts instantly
  • Report and manage damaged tooling
  • Follow all Health and Safety guidelines including the use of full PPE at all times
  • Continuous improvement of work area and outputs
  • Communicate well between machine operators and supervisors
  • Other ad-hoc production duties as required

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience in a production environment
  • Experience in a high paced machine shop in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of or experience using Orbital Sanders and/or Hand Files
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • A keen eye to detail
  • Good knowledge of using measuring equipment i.e. Vernier's
  • Knowledge of 5S
