Job Title: Production Engineer | Location: Gateshead | Salary: £49,000 - £57,000

Job Overview

A leading global manufacturer with a strong international presence and a major production site in the North East is seeking a talented Production Engineer to join their team in Gateshead, Tyne. The role involves ensuring the production process runs smoothly, maintaining equipment, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Live within commuting distance to one of our offices: Darlington, Copenhagen, Berlin or Rotterdam.
  • Drive the product from conception (PoCs) through to full deployment, ensuring balanced management of new development, projects, and BAU operations.
  • Lead technical reviews of new solutions and research emerging technologies, focusing on AI and cloud‑enabled document processing.
  • Provide technical insight and solution specifications to CRM and Professional Services teams to support bids, tender responses, and business development.
  • Act as Product Owner or Product Manager within an Agile/Scrum framework: manage backlogs, write user stories, and lead sprints.
  • Leverage AI/ML to enhance document capturing, validation, classification, and extraction processes.
  • Implement cloud‑native development strategies, deploying AI/ML models on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Balance innovation, projects, and BAU support within the delivery team.
  • Support bid/pre‑sales activities, draft solution specifications, and calculate quotations.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Strong experience in production engineering and continuous improvement.
  • Hands‑on AI/ML and cloud experience as described above.
  • Excellent communication and product ownership skills.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland as required.
  • UK driving license.
