A leading engineering consultancy in the UK is seeking a Product Safety Engineer to enhance the safety of complex engineering programmes. You will produce essential documentation, maintain hazard logs, and conduct reviews against safety standards. The ideal candidate should have strong experience with safety criteria and technical report writing. This role offers a contract of 12 months and a competitive hourly rate.

Qualifications

Product Safety Engineer

Location: Glascoed

Contract: 12 months

Rate: £40/hour PAYE (£45.83/hour incl.holiday) or £53.90/hour Umbrella

Clearance: SC Required

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Product Safety Engineer to support the safe delivery of complex engineering programmes. You will play a key role in ensuring products are developed, reviewed, and maintained in line with safety and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce documentation to support Safety and Environmental Cases (SEC).
  • Create and maintain product hazard logs.
  • Contribute to the delivery of conforming products.
  • Conduct safety reviews of designs against safety and environmental management frameworks.
  • Provide advice and guidance on product safety during bids and projects.
  • Apply hazard identification, analysis, and risk assessment techniques (e.g., FMEA, FTA).
Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of engineering lifecycle management.
  • Experience deriving and setting safety criteria and requirements.
  • Familiarity with relevant defence or safety standards (e.g., Def Stan 00-056, DSA 03.OME).
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality technical safety reports and arguments (e.g., ALARP).
